Dignity in Mental Health!

“It’s no coincidence that four of the six letters in health are “heal” – Ed Northstrum

Mental illness can be seen as a major issue nowadays. We come across individuals who suffer from various psychological problems which affects on how they think, feel and behave. The world health organization (WHO) has defined mental health as a state of well-being in which every individual realizes his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his community.
Mental health needs a great deal of attention and one should not be ashamed of speaking or having a conversation on this topic publicly. Mental illness refers to a wide range of disorders that affect individuals thinking pattern and behavior, examples are- Depression, Anxiety, Suicide, Traumas, emotional intelligence etc. I have come across many individuals who suffer from some or the other psychological problems and just showing a little compassion and support in improving their quality of life, does wonders, my experience says it all.  A mental illness can make a person miserable and cause troubles in their work life and relationships. One cannot improve quality of life just by medicines but also by love and care we show towards them. There is this wonderful quote given by Robin Williams, “You treat a disease, you win, you lose. You treat a person, I guarantee you, you’ll win, no matter what the outcome.” If we follow this given quote, we actually can improve the quality of life to a greater extent. Mental health strengthens one’s ability to make good life choices and can enjoy their life by coping up with daily life problems.
Our aim as Individuals should be of spreading knowledge about mental health and encourage its practice in all sections of the society. This awareness is essential to improve well-being and also to get rid of the stigma that is faced by individuals suffering from mental health problems/ disorders.

Love!

Before I met him, I never knew what it was like to be able to look at someone and smile for no reason.  When I saw him I fell in love, and he smiled because he knew!

He is the one who finds happiness in smallest of the things he does. He is the one who will stand by you when you’re right and correct you when you’re wrong. He is the one who has achieved whatever he wished for. A person who has a complete different view about life which inspires and motivates people to perceive the same. He will never worry about things he can’t control or change. He always has something interesting to talk about. He lives life in a very positive manner. For him, family is the most important thing in the world. I am sure enough that wherever he will go, he is going to touch every stone into gold. He is the heart of every function. I have learned a lot many things from him which I can’t put into words. He showed me that I am important. He brings out the best in me. He is the one who taught me that “Different is beautiful”. I am always left with no words when I plan to write or speak something about him. Some people make the world special just by being in it and he’s one of them. He has created a very special place in each and everyone’s life and I am sure he will keep doing the same wherever he goes.

He holds a very special place in my life and I truly wish that he is blessed with all the happiness and success in life.  :)

Inspiration ! :)

“Hardships often prepare ordinary people for an extraordinary destiny”.

There are people in life who inspire you in many different ways and you can actually look upon them as your idol. For me, it was my Grandfather. He was the most Amazing person in my life. He taught me things I still continue to follow. The most positive person and kind by heart. He was a giver. I have learned from him that whatever you decide to do, do it with all your heart. I have developed the habit of collecting thoughts and writing few by my own from him. He had this great hobby of collecting articles , thoughts and readings from magazines and books because he believed that thoughts shape your way of thinking and it changes your perception towards things around. My grandfather and I were very close. Whatever in life I have learned is to a greater extent from him. I remember the times when I used to sit beside him and listen to his talks about how he lived his life and which today inspires me a lot. He has inspired me in a number of ways and I am always left with no words when I start talking about him. He was not just a role model for me but also a great friend. I have a hero and I call him my Grandpa. I have always believed that lucky are those people who get to stay with their grandparents and I am one of them because things you get to know and learn from them are really helpful. Whenever we fall, we always look around for arms to comfort us in every way and it is difficult to imagine even a single day without his lessons, Love you Grandpa. Even though today he isn’t with me, He will always remain in my heart and in my thoughts. I love my Grandpa much. He is the person who has inspired me in all different ways.

Memories - Keep them alive! :)

“Life isn’t the matter of milestones but of memories “

The best thing about memories is making them. We all love those random memories that make us smile no matter what all is going on in our life. Sometimes we all remember those happy memories in our life and want them back. Memories of the childhood are the best. Life is like a book, if you don’t travel, meet people or enjoy its varied experience, you’ve read only one page of it. I have always believed that everyone who enters in your life has a lesson to teach as we get to learn a lot from people. For some people, life is to love and to be loved whereas for some, it is a journey that is made up by your thoughts and feelings. People define life in different ways.

Life is beautiful! Wake up every morning with a thought that something wonderful is going to happen and you will have a lovely day.  We always forget that to be happy or not, is our choice, not chance. I believe that the best way to increase happiness is to share it with others. There are different ways of expressing a thought, express it your way!

So, doodle when you’re bored. Write furiously when inspired. Write a poem on something that makes you happy. Illustrate unexpressed feelings. Scribble. Dance. Get up early. Try something new. Thank somebody.  Expect less. Live simply.

Enjoy the colors of life ! :)

The best things in life happen when you least expect! :)

It’s ok to wait for things you really want instead of rushing for things that need time to grow. It’s ok to care about yourself more. It’s ok to cry rather than holding in the tears and pretending to be ok. Yes, it’s always great to have people in your life who care for you and love you the most but most important is to find things within you that makes you feel special. Nothing in life is more important than loving yourself. Beautiful people do not just happen. Always remind yourself that you are a beautiful person and you have got this amazing life to live. It’s ok to say what you feel and express your feelings towards people whom you care. Feel things that you have never felt before. Follow your heart. It’s ok to stop at some point in your life, there is no time limit to things. Life is a balance of both – Happiness and sadness, and both are essential ingredients in our life. Life is a gift and you’ve been given this beautiful gift, so open it and enjoy it. Life is beautiful, my friends. It’s on how you look at it that matters.

So, keep it simple. Say “Thank you” a lot. Love deeply. Be patient. Keep going. Dance. Exercise. Cook. Travel!

Above all, BE HAPPY!! :D

Live life, love life ! :)

LIFE! Yes, One of the most beautiful gift given by god.  It is rightly said “God loves you more in a moment than anyone could in a lifetime.” – Unknown

We are always very curious about things in our life. We see people struggling to achieve what they really wish for. We see millions of people who suffer from some or the other difficulties in their life but the thing which always keep them moving forward is their outlook towards the problem. We have seen people who believe in the beauty of their dreams. We have also seen people who are creative and does everything creatively, with devotion. We are always attached to little things in our life because we had those things for a long time with us, whether it’s a small greeting card given by someone, gift wrappers given to us on our birthdays, train tickets, letters and what not. Attachment is not just with a person but also with these small little things. For me, little things matter the most, they occupy the biggest part in my life. Above all, make the best of whatever you have and remember every day is a new beginning.

So, sing in the shower. Count your blessings. Write. Ask questions. Know your worth. Party hard. Never settle.

Love yourself!! :)

Life is beautiful ! :)

It is rightly said “Whatever life gives you. Even if it hurts you, just be strong and act like you’re okay. Remember strong walls shake but never collapse.” - Unknown

We are never satisfied with whatever we have. There are people in life who are always satisfied with things they have and never complain, not because they don’t care enough or they don’t want it but they believe that give some time and keep working hard. Whatever is meant to be, will definitely find its way.  We always forget things we should remember and remember those things we actually should forget. Nothing is going to be easy, it’s YOU who has to make it simple and easy. Happiness is something we can get from every small things in our life only if we know how to find it. Just help an old man and women in crossing the road, it will give you immense happiness. Cook for others and see how you feel when they appreciate it. Do something nice for someone, thank somebody.  Reflecting on your experiences will help you to appreciate what matters to you. Appreciate yourself for every small thing you do. I believe that, life is beautiful, just follow your heart and go ahead and I bet you won’t regret ever.

So, keep it simple. Have a firm handshake. Sing in the shower. Be there when people need you. Accept differences.

It’s your life. Make it large!! :)
